Argentine professional footballer Nicolas Burdisso and his wife Belen Soler Valle developed their love of wine in Italy, where Nicolas, now technical director of Fiorentina, previously played for top clubs such as AS Roma and Inter. Their dream was to one day own their own vineyards in Argentina and produce wines that would rival the best in the world.
In Argentina, a Potrero is an improvised football field where young footballers challenge each other and learn skills. Just as a vine needs a challenging terroir to produce top wines, a footballer grows into a world-class player on a Potrero. The vines in the Andes Mountains that withstand the extreme temperature changes and lack of moisture produce excellent grapes.
Their adventure began in 2008 with the purchase of four vineyards in Gualtallary, a prestigious wine region in the Uco Valley (Mendoza) at the foot of the 6570 meter high Tupungato volcano. This region has a unique terroir, the basis for great wines. The first wines were produced in 2012. The international wine press is full of praise, and this is just the beginning!
