The Bergqvist family has been involved in the wine business since 1815 both in winemaking and shipping. In the 1930’s they sold their shipping company, Feueheerd, but retained Quinta de La Rosa which was managed by Claire Feueheerd. In 1988, Clair’s granddaughter Sophia and her father Tim decided to relaunch Quinta de La Rosa.nnEleven estate vineyards are planted along the Douro River and rise island to 1,200 feet. The older vineyards are planted to Touriga Nacional, Souzao, Touriga Franca and Tinta Cao and the average age of the vines is 50 years old. The newer vineyards were planted in the early 1970’s and were planted to Touriga Nacional,Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Tinta Cao. nA new winery was completed in time for the 2012 harvest. This gravity-fed facility features four temperature controlled granite lagares. Head winemaker Jorge Moreira studied in Spain and Italy before joining the estate in 2002.
