Palacios Remondo Rioja Placet Valtomelloso 2022 750 ML

Bodegas Palacios Remondo is a family-owned winery established in 1948 by Jose Palacios Remondo, the 5th generation of a family with a long involvement with wines for more than 150 years. This was also the childhood home of Alvaro Palacios, the acclaimed Spanish winemaker. He learned his craft here and, after his father’s death in 2000, became officially the winemaker too on the family’s home estate in Rioja.
The winery is situated within the Oriental Rioja in the municipal district of Alfaro. The estate owns 100 ha of vines that are grown on a large, steep hill, south-east facing and is 550 metres above sea level. The soil is made up of clay and lime, with very poor organic matter. The varieties planted are Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano, with just 8 ha planted with the white grape variety Viura. From the vintage of 2017, the wine is organically farmed.
