It specializes in estate-grown Syrah, Riesling and Viognier. In addition Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines come from vineyards in the Sta Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley. The winery was founded in 1989 after actor Fess Parker (Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone) bought a ranch near Los Olivos in the Santa Ynez Valley. Seeing the potential of Santa Barbara County as a premier viticultural area, he began planting what have become renowned vineyards. The business remains family-owned and there are now 110 acres (44.5ha) of estate vineyards. The winery is a notable stop on the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail. Several other brands are under the same family ownership. Epiphany Cellars is a range of Rhône-styled wines, made mainly from fruit from the Home Ranch. The Addendum label is used for limited release Bordeaux varietal wines made in partnership with top Napa growers.
