Chateau Laroque Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2024 750 ML
$89.99
Located on the edge of the limestone plateau and in a hollow on the slopes of Saint-Laurent overlooking the Dordogne valley. Chateau Laroque dates back to the distant era of Anglo-Norman invasion. All that remains of that feudal past is an imposing 12th century tower which was left standing when the chateau was rebuilt in the seventeenth century. In spite of its prestige, the estate gradually fell into disuse at the beginning of the 20th century, as a result of successive wars and crises. Winemaking activity ceased, with nothing pointing to a bright future. Its purchase by the Beaumartin family in 1935 marked the start of an ambitious challenge. In 1962, 40 hectares of vines were replanted. In 1982, Bruno Sainson became Estate Manager and, together with his team, undertook a veritable quest for excellence. Xavier Beaumartin took over the estate in 2004, a visible sign of the family’s attachment and investment that has enabled Chateau Laroque to regain all the splendor of its prestigious past. It is the largest estate in Saint-Emilion with 61 hectares of undivided vineyard, from which only 27 hectares of the best plots and oldest vines are used for production of Chateau Laroque Grand Cru ClassE.
