A majestic and spirited Riesling, immensely dense, full of tension and interwoven with minerality, filigree multilayered extract, and fine phenolics. The vineyard’s history goes back to 1803, when the family’s ancestors bought vineyards in Maximiner Klosterlay. Today, the winery is owned by Karl Josef and his son Christopher Loewen. The production focuses on Riesling, which makes up approx. 95% of the winery’s 15 ha of vineyards spread over the towns of Leiwen, Longuich, Detzem and Thörnich. More than 50% of the vineyards consist of ungrafted 60-120 year old Riesling vines. Only natural fertilizers are used in the vineyards and vinification takes place by natural spontaneous fermentation.
