Lighter in color than their Reservoir Road Pinot of the same range, the 2016 Black Bream Pinot Noir has a dusty tart cherry nose with a soft mineral core. Delicate roses and violets mingle with the soft sea-spray expression on the nose. The palate shows a light red-styled Pinot with soft tart red fruits like cranberry, cherry and dusty strawberries, with a subtle potpourri spice coming through toward the end. The finish is still tight and will age gracefully over the next decade or so. 3,800 bottles produced. This vineyard is planted at 350 meters in altitude.Earthy aromas of forest floor and rooibos tea are front and center on the nose of this pretty Pinot. Notes of crunchy red berry, pomegranate and red cherry pit are hit with a dusting of cocoa. Silky in feel and texture, it’s medium in weight and well balanced, with lively acidity and just-ripe red fruits that flood the palate and finish with a mouthwatering zest. Lauren Buzzeo
