With over 25 years of experience winemaking in Argentina, Paul thinks one of the most compelling stories looking into the future of Argentine wine is Pinot Noir from this frontier winemaking region. The short, cool and sunny growing season is perfectly suited for Pinot Noir. Alto Limay is grown and produced in San Patricio del Chanar, 380 miles south of Mendoza, in the province of Neuquen. Paul Hobbs has been consulting for the partner winery for five years. The namesake Limay River joins the Neuquen River to form the Rio Negro, which flows to the Atlantic Ocean and separates Patagonia from the Pampas. The pristine Alto Limay, fed by Andes mountain snowmelt creates unique grapegrowing conditions in Patagonia.
