Shafer Vineyards’ 2021 Red Shoulder Ranch Chardonnay is a medium to full-bodied, balanced, and elegant wine from Carneros, California. It is aged for 14 months on fine lees and is barrel fermented in a 75% new French oak and 25% stainless steel. n The wine has a seductive aroma of white flowers, lemon peel, honeysuckle, cloves, and flint. It has a satiny texture and loads of stone fruit, with scents of oak laced apple pie, peach preserves, and ripe pineapple. It also has hints of allspice, candied ginger, and praline. n The wine is produced from small-clustered clones of grapes selected for their low yields and distinctive flavors. Fermentation takes place within individual oak and stainless steel barrels using native yeasts.
