Expect 2022 Los Carneros wines to become a particularly sought-after vintage. On the estate, we may well remember 2022 for the skilled efficiency and exuberance our team employed to deliver this exceptional harvest through a record-shattering west coast heat wave over ten days in September. Although the heat dramatically compacted the harvest, particularly for Bordeaux varieties and for historically later-ripening sites, we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The pleasant, mostly gentle growing season, with many cool and foggy days through July and August, had worked no small magic, producing gorgeous, outstanding fruit throughout the estate. The Pinot Noirs are dense and well extracted but with a fine balance and the Chardonnays are brimming with lovely fruit and floral notes. These spirited wines show enormous promise, which we eagerly look forward to bottling in 2024.
